@lolololicious I think it's crap that you think Nastia isn't American. Just because she wasn't born in the US doesn't mean she isn't less of an American than anyone else.

@lolololicious Nastia changed the sport of gymnastics. She elevated standards. She brought beauty and artistry back to the sport. She stood the test of time during her competitive career (unlike Carly), won year after year, suffered an injury, and came back to win again. She's also a beautiful girl with good interview skills, and those qualities go far.

@lolololicious It's not all about winning. Her poise under pressure, and her beautiful, unique, gracious, elegant, feminine style is what will keep her remembered forever by her true fans (and that's all that matters). And who cares what country someone's from?

I mean in context of people like Phelps and Mary Lou. You have to break records and do something that's never been done before to be remembered by the general public. Go to the mall or anywhere else and ask somebody who the sportswoman of the year or the fig athlete of the year is and they won't no what the hell you're talking about. Carly is not well known and in 4 years I don't know why it would be any different for Nastia.

Her Olympic accomplishments were actually historically insignificant and in reality she didn't do that much more than Shawn. Add in that fact that she's not even really American and she'll be remembered less than Carly Patterson.
