  • My treager has a 50 degree difference between the dome and the control. The dome is 50 degrees cooler than what the controller shows. Any ideas?

  • @TheJonesRay, mine does the same thing. They placed the thermoneter near the top by the exhaust. This will be the hottest area of the cooker. What matters is what you get at grate level. My Maverick ET-73 digital thermometer reads vey close to the Traeger digital controller display. Once I saw this I simply set it to 225 when cooking low and slow and don't worry about the dome thermometer on the door.

  • @ThinBlueSmoke, I just noticed you said the Dome was 50 degrees cooler? I would have expected the dome to be hotter as mentioned above. Take the dome thermometer out of the door. Boil a pot of water and place the dome thermometer in the boiling water with a candy thermometer. compare the two. This should give you an idea of how accurate it is. If it's as off as it appears call Traeger service and let them know. They should send you out a good one.

  • i think they should be banned from competitions wheres the pit work? does anyone else agree? most rules state once wood or fuel has been ignited u cant go back and relight dont these things go on and off as needed? with that little igniter box when pellets are pushed in set it and forget it bull---- i cant believe they allow them in bbq comps
