Do you have a favorite tattoo? Let me know in the comments and share your story for why you got it!

Many people are getting tattoos, and quite a few don't take the time to read the after-care sheet provided at tattoo shops. Here is a little bit of my own information that is frequently mentioned on the sheets, and from my own experience!
Please take good care of you tattoos, they are beautiful works of art that should be kept beautiful. :)

  • I've had my tattoo for 24 hours now and it is my first located on my wrist. How often should I clean it? And what should I clean it with, like is anti bacterial soap with wamr water okay? And how often should I apply to keep it moist a day?

  • @crazedcharlotte

You can definitely clean it with anti-bacterial soap and warm water. Clean it if it comes into contact with dirt, pool/sea water, or long sleeves/gloves touching on it, and after a shower. After patting it dry gently, you can just put a little bit of healing ointment (or whatever you were given/bought). A thin layer will do after each time you clean it, you don't need to always put stuff on. After a while, you can lessen the time you clean and moisturize as it fully heals. :)

  • after you get a tattoo how long cant you swim for?

  • @tja534

I've read anywhere from 4-6 weeks. I'd suggest avoid swimming until your tattoo is properly healed -- so finished going through the peeling and puffy stages before you think about submerging it for an elongated period of time -- especially in chlorinated water and/or the ocean.

  • Does aquaphor work?

  • @ItsantuanP

Yes, but just the Aquaphor cream, you shouldn't really use the ointment -- it's like vaseline.

  • Ok thanks

  • i got my tattoo yesterday ! i love itt!!!

  • @thegrtlvr

Yes, I said Aquaphor was good, I've used it myself. But only the lotion, not the 'healing ointment' that looks like Vaseline because that has mineral oil in it.

  • Aquafore works great for tattoos
