But what if everyone copped out that way? Then where would we all be? Edu is not a waste of time, and tons of kids in Africa & Asia would like to trade places with you. Think about that! See Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, aka KISS. 10,000+ poor tribal kids in India going to school, densely housed in dorms, bathing in huge open air showers, all served the same meal (no choices) and loving every minute of it. You can see pics & vids on internet & YouTube. Come on, step up to the plate!

I do just enough work not to do great but to pass because I feel what we do is a waste of time.

Also, we ask so much of our children in such a short time. Children are being introduced to concepts in boring, regimented ways earlier and earlier. Also? In the USA we dish out school funding based on a standardized test score, not everyone is good at taking such tests, nor are they able to do it in the time limit they have, I was/am horrible at math, I could never finish my standard math tests in time, but I could do a reading comprehension test in 15 minutes and get advanced scores in it.

Define "learning." Define "idiot." Define "education." We expect everyone to follow the same form, the same model. A child that is having difficulty grasping math because the way that they're being taught to do it is different than the way their brain works isn't an idiot who can't learn, but rather someone who needs a different teacher than can think sideways.

Then when time comes in need for help in society ( like construction, repairs, transportation, ect ) who do we turn to ? Oh well yes we have those educa.... oh wait you threw them out.
