His Imperial Majesty, Yoshihito, the Taisho era, was the 123rd Emperor of Japan and reigned from 1912 to 1926. During his reign the center of power in Japan was, for the first time, completely in Tokyo and Japan participated in World War I according to its alliance with Great Britain. Japanese forces conquered the main German colony in China at Tsingtao and gained control of all of Germany's northern territories in the Pacific. The Emperor suffered increasingly from neurological problems and his son often acted in his place becoming regent in 1919. Emperor Taisho died in 1926 of a heart attack while suffering from pneumonia.
