Lands minister James Orengo says the September 30 is not the deadline as presumed by many to establish a local tribunal but rather a timeline that he claims is not binding. Orengo says as along as the Imanyara bill is pending in parliament the country will not expect the ICC to move in.

  • Orengo stop using your legal langauge to confuse us. We know you dont want Ocampo cos your wife is deputy to Kiplagat in the TJRC. You are a scum Orengo. pepo mbaya.

  • the significance of the act itself i.e. have the top planners/whoever bankrolled the violence in Hague will be deterrent enough for the incorrigible warlords now roaming freely waiting to cause more deaths come 2012...

  • They can complicate all they want. We want them in the Hague - Netherlands.

  • who cares what these political lawyers say....now that they busy eating they will complicate everything

  • acreed79: That is exactly the point. In fact the Rome statute is Online for all to read and yet most of us appear never to have read through it and yet have the audacity to make both headless and footless comments!! Another point, unless we create a local tribunal to try the perpetrators of 2007 post election violence, we should not lament when the perpetrators go scot-free. Let us comeback to earth and forget about ICC and go for the killers within Kenya. Please Kenyans, follow Imanyara!!!

  • he is explaining the process of the court at the Hague, which many people are ignorant about. The court will step in but they have in built procedures that have to be adhered to before Mr.Ocampo can start his investigation and then possible prosecution. We all need to keep that in mind before we make uneducated comments

  • what we need is Ocampo to pick up the cases so this people can be prosecuted, Over 1000 innocent people died, why dont we sacrifice the big fish who funded our fellow people to rise against one another. We fully support Kofi Anan effort and over 80% of kenyans want justice to be done. Let these guys be taken 2 the Hague so as Kenyans we learn 2 respect one another. Mr. Orengo u are now offside and you need to retract your statement and support the people driven process, which is they go2 Hague

  • orengo is traitor

  • Orengo is a spoiler. I hope such people of the likes of orengo will not return in the next parliament.
