As the H1N1 flu virus continues to spread, the need for N95 respirators is growing, which has caused a national shortage of respirators for health care workers. Scripps Health recently became the first health system in the U.S. to begin equipping its employees with a new type of N95 respirator that provides added protection against microorganisms. Scripps spoke to NBC 7/39 about how the availability of these new masks is helping it effectively address the health and safety of its employees and patients.

Aired on Nov. 6, 2009.
