@nauyaq your an idiot, closed minded people should keep there mouths closed too

@abigmacsass Any time you ski steep and deep terrain you are exposed to avy danger. You do the best you can but in the end not all hazards can be mitigated, only minimized.
-
@toltec12321 im sure they were spotting the skiers and believed they were beyond the runout. perhaps.

I was drunk when I made the "only a skier comment". Just funny how they always slap their backs going off drops and disappear for a moment before they ride out. Glad you had your dog he was stoked. A snow pit only tells you the conditions in the area of the pit. Conditions change rapidly and thats why you need to use all your senses and be prepared at all times. I dont see any signs of recklessness. Having spotters at the bottom ready for rescue is better than losing another person coming down.

Sorry but I gotta say it. Only a skier would break his scapula. Im gonna catch some shit for that. Glad your OK. Shit happens. Be safe(r).

@northface9 Sweet story bro

everything awesome has a warning label on it because some people are idiots.... alcohol, cigarettes, cocaine, skiing in the backcountry..... gotta play smart!

skiing with a dog doesn't seem safe
-
Scary. Nice work filming the whole thing and getting your beacons out quickly. These guys did a great job in the backcountry with route finding - pet exercise - and their stopping zone. Don't give them a hard time, fluke avi's happen lots. Bringing your dog is a great idea!! The smartest and coolest skiers I know do it all the time.

This makes me really fricken sad that people are dumb enough to take dogs into an area like that. Dogs don't know anything about avalanche safety. They can't make decisions for themselves. Leave your dogs home, morons. Oh, and hucking rocks on a sensitive slope? That doesn't strike you as dumb? I wouldn't care about your own dumb decisions if you didn't involve your helpless dogs.

No dogs were buried. Lots of people ski with dogs in Alaska. If you notice the dog came out clean. The deep instability was known and discussed on approach.
I was purposefully staying on the camera and LOOKING and making sure to not make any rescuers become victims. If you listen you here the guy at the top with a beacon. I skied to the car for cell phone and actually got the heli there asap. There was 10 people on scene before I could have got there...
