Chinese Chess Master is China's first 100% homemade anime series. Previously, all anime series produced in China were usually funded, guided and directed fully by Japanese companies.

Produced in 2005, it was not aired on China's TV until recent years due to China's strict policy in monitoring animated shows.

When it was first aired in China, the viewers had mixed reaction towards this anime and many had complained that the character design is too Japanese style and the storyline somehow resembled Hikaru no Go + Yu-gi-oh.

However, over the time as the series progressed, the viewers came to accept watching Chinese Chess Master because the story turned out to be unique in its own style. It had also received some praise from the viewers as the first made-in-China anime series that showed a marked quality improvement in China's animation industry.

  • @zloidz you should know that who copied who

  • i pity people who doesn't like chinese culture.... although i also kinda have problems with the chinese language due to poor upbringing by my school

  • @pawoon and FYI, they copied and stole stuff while invading, the very same thing they are doing to smaller asian countries now.

  • @pawoon lool you knew nothing about Asia AT ALL, thousand years ago the chinese ancestors were invading a lot countries around them, as you could see the China nowaday wasn't one country years before, thus is why they got foods that similars to the other's, there were many countries, so don't blame the history since it wasn't china, I now say china is shit because they can't stop copying stuff and made them WORSE, getting fruits from others and selling poisonous fruits back, end of story.

  • @pawoon Bonsai came from Pen Jai (pronounce PunJai) or Penjing

  • European Chess came from either Xiang-Qi (Chinese chess), or the Indian game (can't recall the name). How's that for copying? For centuries, the Europeans copied Chinese silk making, porcelain making, tea (well, they couldn't for a long time).

  • @dlwitness You mean the Chinese copied paper, gunpowder, the compass, the kite, the seismograph, the multistage rocket (read up about that one), porcelain, silk, embroidery, ceramics? WHere do you think the Japanese got their writing, tea customs, bonsai (read about the origins), origami (read about the true origins), zen buddhism (Ch'an buddhism), read about the true origins of Karate (came from Kung Fu). How about Japanese music? You guessed it, came from China. Architecture? food?

  • @nejtilsvampe if pawns can move sideways in traditional chess then sure

  • omg the chinese fail so hard

  • ok 西游记 and 三国演义 is not something you can like read in a day
