we like the kimber warriors because the non california models dont have a firing pin block, and it has a standard length guide rod, the series 70 trigger honestly feels a lot more smoother than a series 80, and the reason why the corps went with a regular length guide rod is so they can take it down with no tools. the easiest way to describe the kimber warrior series 1911 is that its got all the stuff you want, and none of the crap you dont.
It doesn't have to be the Desert Warrior, it could be the Warrior, the only thing that is different is the finish the Kimber Desert Warrior has a Desert Tan KimPro II Vs the Warrior's Matte Black KimPro II. The Warrior is a VERY high quality combat 1911 The USMC requested a series of specifications for a 1911A1 with a desert sand-colored surface treatment, Novak night sights & rail for (MEU) SOC. Although IMO the Ed Brown Special Forces w/ Rail is "The Top" a better quality fit & finish 1911A1.
I love my:Desert Warrior too, Brother Redleg. Excellent pistol, even for the first time shooter. You can get a .22lr conversion kit for it as well. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny.
