Ox-

I did speed bench with chains for the first time... I like the resistance better than bands, but the fact that they move around so much, especially after you press back over your face, it works those "little muscles" you talk about all the time. I ended up doing 75 lbs. of chains on each side, and just tacked a 10 on there too.. I didn't want to go too heavy, because I'm going to start working on "touch and press" like you do in a competition- Andrey and I talked about that last night, and he said it would be a good idea if I started doing that just to get used to it.

I got the incline log idea from Travis- @ his meet in Florida next month that's their opening thing.. I did 4 sets of 6 reps with 170, my d-bell presses, lats, and headed home...

It feels lighter and lighter each day... I think I'm on the right track with this...

  • intense arch...doesnt that hurt

  • It did at first.. I'm set up in a pretty tight position right there... but like they say- Practice makes perfect.

... you get used to it.

  • you want to set up the chain so its all the way on the ground when the bar is on your chest

  • Well, there are several reason why I didn't-

    a) That's 75 lbs. of chains on each side.

    b) When you set up bands, you still want tension even at the bottom- whether at the chest benching, or on the box squatting. Therefore, you want SOME tension at the bottom.

    c) Other than the fact of wanting tension at the bottom for general reasons, I am working on touching and going for meet purposes- so I want a little weight, at least.

  • all i know is that i go in tha weight room bench an leave an im 50 mil......billion times stronger than that

  • actually when you're using chain you don't want tension at the bottom. If you want tension at the bottom you need to use bands. I'm not sure why you said its 75lbs of chain, thats not a ton of chain weight but even if it was, I'm not sure why that'd be a reason to hang them like that. The point of DE is to develop speed. Either way, I've been doing this for awhile but you can take it or leave it, just my two cents
