Testing out my freshly modded Crate V33 Head and refinished Agile PS900.

I'm playing along with the Guitar Center King of the Blues backing track. I was testing my new HD camcorder and was in a rush - I should have warmed up a bit - there are a few ugly notes in the beginning... oh well..

Since I record a seperate video and audio stream, I mark time in the beginning (as you can see in the video) so that I can easily sync up later... thats why I'm counting in.

I've been playing for about a year - taking lessons once a week. My instructor has me working on Modes and the Pentatonic positions and moving between them - so I use this track to work in different modes and find what works. I'm mostly working toward finding "sweet" notes and working around them - as you can probably tell.

Go easy on me! I'm a reformed drummer who really likes the guitar!!! Let me know what you think.

Equipment:
Agile PS900 - Refinished and setup with Duncan Blackouts
Crate V33 Head with Steve Ahola's "SLO" Mod, and new lower gain tubes
Avatar 1X12 VIntage Cabinet - In ISO box - closed mic'd
GLS Audio SM57 clone Mic
POD X3 for recording input - added reverb and delay
Garageband on a Mac Mini for the DAW

  • @maciverandy If the mod is done correctly and properly soldered, it should be fine... I had issues with mine as I overheated the connection to one of the tube sockets and cooked the trace - so the amp died shortly after this video... It would work intermittently, and I tracked it down to one of the tube socket connections... but it was most likely caused by me using to high of a wattage iron and damaging the board / trace. My amp has been on the shelf for about a year waiting for me to repair..

  • @escher2112 hey man...i am going to trade a guitar for one of these modded heads...do you think the mod will effect the life of this amp?

  • Those GLS microphones are amazing, both the SM57 and SM58- for half the price of Shure and they sound 100% identical!!!!

  • @escher2112 whats the name of the website?

  • @MrRaydioray Go to Guitar Centers King of the Blues page and its backing track #9

  • @escher2112 by the way, where can i buy that track for practicing? itunes have it?

  • @escher2112 you are good people man. thank you

  • @MrRaydioray - I use a Pod X3 as a USB interface into Garageband. Pretty much any low latency USB to instrument interface will work. I recommend the Pod as you get all the biuld in Pod effects, etc and it is also extremely low latency.

  • @escher2112 HI, I just bought a mac mini. and i want to play my guitar into it for garage band but i really dont know what i need. can you help?

  • so if i used a firewire external hd, i would be all set
