During the last one week the media in Pakistan have been abuzz with speculation about military operation against terror groups in North Waziristan agency. Pakistan government and military officials have not confirmed the news. In view of the possible operation, experts in Washington have started discussing its significance, objectives and possible outcomes of such an operation.
Caroline Wadhams, senior fellow at American Progress argues Pakistan has the military capacity to conduct such an operation but lacks the strategy to establish civilian control and rehabilitation after the operation.
Dr Sebestian Gorka of National Defense University in Washington, D.C, says there are so many terror elements in the area that even if the leadership of Haqqani Network moves out of the area, it merits military action.
