Watch the story of Ethan Daniel, a little boy who needed a kidney transplant. Ethan's rare blood type lowered his chances of finding a donor, until they found out his grandmother was a perfect match. Meet Ethan, his family, and the team at Phoenix Childrens Hospital who came to his rescue.

The Department of Nephrology at Phoenix Children's Hospital is the largest treatment center in the Southwest for infants, children, and teens with kidney disorders and high blood pressure.

Our team evaluates and treats patients with all kidney-related problems including blood or protein in the urine, kidney stones, recurrent urinary tract infections, congenital kidney diseases, chronic kidney failure, dialysis, nephrotic syndrome, and high blood pressure.

In this region, only at Phoenix Childrens are there specialized doctors, nurses, social workers, nutritionist, school teacher, and Child Life specialists who create a specific treatment plan for each and every pediatric kidney patient.

All of this allows us to provide more than 90 percent of the pediatric kidney transplants, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis in the Southwest.

  • My sister had kidney disease when she was 2, she was supposed to be on dialysis for the rest of her life. We prayed, the whole church prayed for her and God did a miracle. Today she is 19 and is beautiful and healthy, despite never having to go on dialysis or having a transplant.

  • Hi. My daughter, Kajsa, sees Dr. Morgenstern, too. Her transplant was June 3, 2006. We will forever be grateful to the wonderful nephrology team at PCH, along with the amazing woman who chose to be an organ donor.
