I started gracie barra jiu jitsu last week and this was one of the warm ups.
For some reason i couldnt do it. I couldnt figure out which way to turn my hips and which hand to bring forward. lol
I can kinda do it now.

been doing this for a month or so now and it really helps with heads kick, really helps to strech the hips and groin..

lol. i've called them gator crawls after watching Jacare doing them. Excellent workout.

Some chinese martial arts styles call this Gecko Walking.. So, I agree, it didn't originate anywhere in particular, but a great workout nonetheless.

It doesn't "originate" anywhere. it's a movement that has been done by lots of people through history. Hindi wrestlers, Russian troops, Greeks, etc. etc. gymnastica is just one place a version appears.
