Aviation is the world's only industry to date that has set its own global climate protection targets.
Long-term goals are CO2-neutral growth from 2020 and by 2050 a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions from fossil fuels compared to 2005 levels.
Lufthansa supports the climate protection targets defined by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
All our objectives serve the sustainable use and management of finite resources and a permanent reduction of our emissions.
The current biofuel testing initiative is part of the air transport industry's internationally recognized 4-pillar strategy for environmental protection.
