3 Week Old Cockatiel Chicks

This is Noah and Coco's first clutch. Filmed on the 25th of June, 2010, at three weeks old. The lutino, named Baby, is the oldest, hatched June 3rd. Hoops and Yoyo (Hoops is second oldest), the two greys, hatched the next day on the 4th; Hoops in the evening, and Yoyo near midnight. Genders unknown at the moment.

I never thought that my tame tiels would have babies.. until I went to refill their food bowls one day and found an egg at the bottom of the cage! Coco had somehow taken a piece of magazine paper from through the bars at the bottom and laid an egg on top. I didnt even have a nest box at the time, it was so unexpected, but an hour later I had a new one set up with the egg inside. Long story short, I ended up with five eggs. They abandoned egg #2, so sadly, it didnt hatch. Egg #3 hatched first on June 3rd 2010, and from it came the lutino baby. Egg #1, the egg laid on the bottom of the cage, contained Hoops, who hatched the next day. Late that same day, Yoyo hatched from Egg #4. A few days later, Egg #5 hatched, but the chick was smaller than its older siblings and passed away within the week.

Well, anyway, they are now two months old and weaned. They were parent raised, but I have handled them since they hatched, so they are just as tame as handfed chicks. They are so beautiful!
