This is a matching set of two instruments an optically controlled random beep, blip generator and a standard solid state theremin.

The sequencer is basically two optical theremins mixing through a passive ring modulator. One oscillator is generating a sine wave the other a square wave.

Both oscillators have several opto-couplers connected to their frequency determining components which allows a trigger pulse generating micro-controller to send signals via banana leads to the opto-couplers creating random drops in the frequency of the tones produced. The time period between signals from the micro-controller is governed by five LDR's that are connected to the controllers analog inputs.

More information regarding these devices and others can be found on out blog...

The matching standard theremins circuit is based on a simple modified schematic we found online a while back.

  • Nice!! Respect2you

  • wie geil bitte ich will auch ein schneebesen synth xD

  • Sir, i must inform you, there is a whisk attached to your loud wooden box..

  • ... so as to produce a new modulation equal to the sum or the difference between the two and combine with optical control sequencing!?!

If only Leon Theremin had known of the whisk, then history repeated may have taken a different turn. This may well be the control interface system for my flying Mk 2 Escort LX, Pray tell me... Which 3.5mm jack-plug controls the turn signal for left and right manoeuvers. Is there a version with a faux velour trim??

  • I do believe that the current range of Toyota footpedals work on a variation on this theme.

    Yours faithfully,

    John Biddleston

  • god that sounded terrible

  • POWER OF THE WHISK!

  • fun! definitely outshines my dinky little optical theremin!

  • noice

  • I love it!

    Nice antenna :D
