Site-specific Dance Video performance / installation BLAST WALL ART by Andrea Haenggi; performed by AMDaT; music live by Lukas Ligeti. Commodore Barry Hand Ball Court, Brooklyn, New York on July 21, 2007

Andrea Haenggi's inspiration for blast wall art is her reaction to the work of Iraqi artists who paint beautiful murals on the protective walls built by the American military in Baghdad. Haenggi's work uses the environment of the site, the language of the body, the illusion of video and the strength of percussive music to reflect on this compelling reality. "I create a choreographic reflection on a journalist's reflection of an artist's reflection on a military reality. I was looking for an environment that I could use to reflect the energy and dynamic of the concrete blast walls in Iraq. This desolate concrete handball court felt like the perfect place." says Haenggi.
