The Liberal Democrat leader announces a £50 million summer school scheme for children who need help bridging the gap between primary and secondary education.
@TheJaaysog Yes. That's because this generation of Cabinet ministers (I assume that's what you mean when you say 'the coalition') went to school and uni 30+ years ago when academia was more elitist than now.
And why is it that a millionaire cannot understand how to represent non-millionaires? Surely, if they've earned it through a business portfolio a'la Huhne et al, they would be able to speak with authority on economic matters?
It irritates me when people dismiss politicians as 'elites' or 'Oxbridge robots'. What is wrong with a good education? I grew up in a council estate in County Durham and attended state schools. I have accepted my offer from Cambridge. There may be problems with access to great universities, something that clearly must not be tolerated. But I refuse to accept that people who have had these opportunities are privileged, elitist, Eton-educated 'robots'.
@kromed01 This cunt sold 'his' party's voters out completely and gave us the load of cunts who are taking this country apart now, bit by bit. Education has proved obsolete now ; it's been exposed as an excuse to get votes. It gets most people nothing now as the only worthwhile positions and careers are mapped out for the elite
I hope the 50 mill quid for summer school helps british kids work out how to make sure there is no more Europe without a referendum !! Nick and his euro-phile mates would just love that exercise in 'grass-roots democracy'. NOT. Whoops, did someone mention Lisbon, which no one in the UK ever to vote on? Ireland got a Lisbon vote, but in true Putin fashion the proprietors of the Euro money ponzi scheme didn't like the result, so the Irish were ordered 2 vote again. Ireland now broke. Go figure.
Nick Clegg couldnt give a crap about the people of this country. He is solely there to help take more from the people abd gives to the banks and big business.
@TheJaaysog Actually, checking the facts NINE cabinet ministers went to state or grammar schools, not one.

@corpbs1 If we get a referendum on the EU then we are nothing but hypocrites, NI, Wales haven't had a referendum on being part of the UK.
