@RUMTUMTUGG3R a common example of this is a creature like Prodigal Sorcerer, which has the ability to tap to deal one damage to a creature or a player. when you activate that ability, you are pinging your target.

you have to deal combat damage to a player directly. Now if you could give something trample with celestial mantle, good on ya!
