  • I would always listen to your body before a label. SPF is measuring UVB, not UVA. SPF of 15 means if you were to burn in 10 minutes, now you will be protected for 150 minutes. However, the sunscreen needs to be applied liberally, and if your in water or sweating applied every half hour.

  • Mexoryl is no better in blocking UVA than is zinc oxide. I like zinc oxide because it is not irritating. There are zinc oxide brands with topical antioxidants like green tea polyphenols.

  • thanks for watching

  • Nice work doc. Did you do the editing yourself.

  • Thanks, its one of my hobbies.

  • Yes, Loreal has an spf 20 available at their conters. Otherwise, other Mexoryl-containg products are available on line.

  • will mexoryl keep my dark skin from tanning? i would like to maintain my winter time complexion as much as possible, is there any advice you can give me?

  • @1951abcd Medicine is scary

  • @BijanParandeh I will repeat my first and last response to you; "Moron"

    What a Fucking Moron!!

  • @1951abcd That is it exactly, Geological circumstance. That is what I'm trying to tell you- fair-skinned people can live anywhere in the world now.

I think you are confusing what Dermatologists are saying because it "scares the shit out of [you]". I don't think you know what you're talking about and only basing it off of your own personal experience. Because you don't have cancer at the age of 60 is not a justification for anything.

  • @BijanParandeh I'm not your friend!

From what I read: attitude, geological circumstance and Australian's love of the outdoors is the primary reason, makes sense to me.

Maybe I should also tell you that I have lived on this globe for 6 decades, when is that cancer going to kick in?

If you paid attention to my OP you would know that I said in moderation?

Don't be stupid, you and the earth cannot exist without the sun.

We can't live without water either but too much will drown you.

  • @1951abcd I'm sorry my friend but that's how it works. Why does Australia have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world instead of Africa? Do you think it's the aborigines getting sunburns all the time? I think this stuff is all too complicated for you. What I'm trying to explain, is that some of the things that were "natural" a long time ago, don't apply anymore.

  • @BijanParandeh You are thinking like a MORON!

  • @1951abcd You are thinking like a child. First of all, we live in a World where you can live anywhere you want in the world in a split second because of the airplane, ship, car. What that means is dark people don't live in the darkest places in the World anymore. Travelling is so fast and medicine is so advanced that natural selection and adaptation does not happen anymore when a light colored group moves to a sunny area. Second of all, it has been proved the uv shield is weaker now.

  • We evolved with the sun, we can't live with out it.

Anything in excess is bad for you and overexposure is bad also, but to say the sun is detrimental to your health is a stretch to say the least. As a matter of fact it clears my Psoriasis better than any topical I have tried and it is free. Maybe that is the problem (it is free). Did I mention no side effects except a tan! I make it a point to never burn. The medical profession scares the shit out of me!!!

  • You are a great Doctor thanks.
