@52111centrumcz Honestly, as much as I love the Flanker line? With equal pilots, the standard, unvectored Su-27 really wouldn't stand a chance against the F-22, be it BVR or a close range dogfight. Stealth prevents the entire line from engaging it at long range. Now, you put a thrust-vectored model of the Flanker against it? An Su-35 or Su-30 at dogfight range? Then you've definitely got a real fight. Now, compared any of our 4th generation fighters? The Flanker line are MUCH better aircraft.

Su-27 is a heavy fighter, Mig-29 is light fighter... no point in this. Remember Eritrea vs Ethiopia? Ethipian Su-27 ruled and shot down Mig-29.

Cу-27 и МиГ-29 разные классы, один тяжёлый,другой средний,лёгкого у нас пока нет, хотя был МиГ-21,оба истребителя 4 поколения с плюсиком,одинаковая энерговооружённость и схожесть в управлении,но задачи немного разные Су-27 выполняет дальний перехват,а так же функции бомбардировщика,а МиГ-29 неплохо справляется с обязанностями штурмовика,но обе машины создававись с учётом ближнего воздушного боя,на МиГ-29 проще и дешевле обучать пилотов,система управления Су-27 для этого имеет некоторые нюансы

I don't mind Americans...I just mind the USA is super duper unsurpassed whatever stan. The only things the stealth jets have that's better than the Russkie jets is their avionics and their reduced RCS - in all other aspects the Russian jets dominate the performance envelope. (Well maybe full weight on takeoff the F-22 could outperform the Su-27, but not with half-fuel)

@52111centrumcz Speaking as an American... I'm forced to agree with you on that. Any "expert" who -ever- claims that dogfighting and aerial combat maneuvering is a thing of the past, really needs to be without a job. In Vietnam the US military went in with that mindset, and yeah, we had some serious problems early on. Also didn't help that the missiles were CRAP. Later on though, when they started focusing on ACM and dogfighting in the training.. we started getting aerial superiority finally.

Oh that's right, and in 1969 the engineers at GD and Raytheon were correct that all future air combat would be done by long range AA missiles, and push-button warfare would make maneuverability not needed. Then the "superior" US forces encountered cannon armed Mig-17s, mig-19s and Mig-21and were hard pressed to maintain a 1 to 1 kill ratio, even though of their overwhelming numerical superiority. Remember, american propaganda doesn't work on the battlefield...American whiners.

@SMJeOma It does, its the first russian craft to have AESA radar, something used to detect aircraft at varied ranges and can even pick up those with reduced cross sections. Essentially this upgrade, along with the thrust vectoring makes it essentially an equal to the F-35 in payload and electronics while sacrificing a radar cross section for superior maneuverability.
