Cocteau Twins were a Scottish alternative rock band active from 1979 to 1997, known for complex instrumentation and atmospheric, non-lyrical vocals. The original members were Elizabeth Fraser (vocals), Robin Guthrie (guitar, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass guitar), who was replaced by Simon Raymonde (also bass guitar) early in the band's career.

Though formed in the post-punk and New Wave era, the Cocteau Twins tended to defy concise categorisation, and their music was a key influence on dream pop. Whilst the entire band earned much critical praise, Elizabeth Fraser's distinctive vocals received the most attention. At times barely decipherable, Fraser seemed to veer into glossolalia and mouth music. Allmusic reviewer Ned Raggett writes that "part of her appeal is how she can make hard-to-interpret lyrics so emotionally gripping.

Bluebeard is a single by the Cocteau Twins. It was released by Fontana Records in February 1994. It was the second single to be released from the Four-Calendar Café album.

The CD single has four tracks, including an acoustic version of the main track which didn't appear on the 12". The CD was also released in the US on Capitol, the band's American label.

All tracks were written by the Cocteau Twins.

  • I would love to visit her home planet. And that IS a compliment!

  • Found this accidentally - I really like it. I'm useless at making out lyrics and even poorer at understanding them - looks like I'm going to have to go back and get into their whole back-catalogue! Keep dreaming.

  • Been listening to this shit for years

  • @bobosemlimit -me too. just found the lyrics and i am absolutely stunned! discovering the actual lyrics right now coincides with my current growing awareness/working on my maladapted attachment style.... and ive had this track in my possession for over 12 years!!! uh-maze balls.

  • well, now that I read the lyrics , I just understand the song....... just because when I was listening , I didn´t understand..... (ooops.... sorry, I´m brazilian....)

  • @Ullsteil well going off your you tube page i guess you have a wonderful ability to detect the subtle nuances of music? Do some homework my friend and you will find just how beyond their time the Cocteau Twins were, check out the album version of Wax and Wane for some Banshee-like tones. This band had amazing originality unlike some of the trash you have on your You Tube page...shouting vocalists are ten a penny mate
