This is an "advanced look" at footage from the pilot episode, from the network's summer 1969 "fall preview presentation" (which was seen by its affiliates only), hosted by Hugh Downs [whose voice you hear at the beginning] and Joe Garagiola.
Where's the theme song "Just a Little Love" ? That's why I googled it. When I was young, I loved watching the show with my Mother and singing the song too.
If you ever see the 1970 episode of "MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS" where "Attilla The Hun" is reimagined as a vapid American situation comedy, 'Living', you'll hear "Just a Little Love", because they satirized the opening title sequence of Debbie's show as- "The Attilla the Hun Show"! That was John Cleese & Graham Chapman's reaction to Debbie's series when it was repeated on the BBC in the fall of 1970. Jess Oppenheimer, who created and originally produced "I LOVE LUCY", also did the same here..
I was 13 when "The Debbie Reynolds Show" premiered on NBC in 1969 and I was hoping it would last a long time because I am such a Debbie Reynolds fan. Unfortunately her sitcom only ran for one season! Her show was sandwiched between "I Dream Of Jeannie" and "Julia" so I think she had a great time slot, but I think the writing was weak and could have been much much better. I really did like the cast too!
