This fantastic peek into the wild world of Hyaena Gallery in Los Angeles by author, artist, actor, and filmmaker Matt Dukes Jordan gives viewers a look at some of the artists who show at Hyaena Gallery and a look at the fabulous owner - curator - maestro, Bill Shafer.. Shafer opened the gallery on April Fools Day, 2006.... Hyaena shows lowbrow art of many kinds, yet the emphasis is on the gothic and the darkly romantic (as in the sense of Romanticism in art and literature)... The art is inspired by B-movies, esp. horror films, by the Los Angeles entertainment and music world, but writers like Poe and Bukowski, by rock music and comic books, by MAD magazine and Big Daddy Roth, by Charles Addams and other such cartoonists... by the satires of Rabelais and Cervantes.... and more.... Bill owned a record store in Boston... and was in a punk band... he is an artist and writer... and loves fine Scotch... he is a fun, smart, cool guy and has many friends -- see some of them in this doc! Enjoy !
thanks !!
