@sampleforyou It looks very much like it. Even now, the problem is not solved: guardian.co.uk/world/2012/feb/12/fukushima-reactor-reheating-concern
When the temperature's too high and officials say "nah we like to think the thermometer's broken", you know something's fishy.

At the levels > 30 sievert, death comes in 1-2 days to 100% of untreated people. At 1 Sv, death would come to 1% to 5% of the population in 6-8 weeks. People in the area who refuse to leave have been there a YEAR and have no symptoms. If you were a worker at the plant, you have something to worry about. If you live in Europe, Canada, or the USA you have a better chance of being hit in the head by a falling dead alien than sickness from radiation.

''A LOCAL disaster affecting all of Japan''......?
I think you will find its a little more wide spread than that, try the entire northern hemisphere, just give it time.

What I really got shocked at after the crisis are:
(1) When radiation & contamination levels rose way over the allowed limits, Japanese government simply increased the levels (numbers) for safety accordingly and told their citizens that things are safe and under control.
(2) Officials & media are be reluctant to reveal the fatal truths, in the name of avoiding creations of unnecessary discomforts in the society.
(3) People simply accept things, and the government has taken no responsibility yet.
