An overlooked masterpiece by the late Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000).
I noticed this piece was not yet on youtube in its original arrangement (i.e. chamber orchestra + trumpet), so I had to do something about that.
(Original photograph from central Italy -- incidentally the home of St. Gregory himself)
Yes it does

Hanson is on you tube but his stuff is being played by amateurs like youth orchestras, HS bands and other such unprofessionals, no offense intended (I played in the band at school too) but for classical music one really needs a fine orchestra in order to hear all the parts of the piece, to feel the piece the way it is meant to be felt and experienced...that is the point after all, of music...it should reach you in some way, if it doesn't then that piece isn't for you...

Try some Howard Hanson, symphonies 2, and 1; Romantic and Nordic, respectively. Don't know if there's any of his stuff here...I'll take a look.

Thank you so very much....I've loved this piece for almost 40 yrs myself, maybe more.....it is a rather beautiful piece of music and one of Hovhaness' best....deeply moving and gentle...with a trumpet? who would have thought it even possible, really...it has a very great beauty, indeed...thanks again and Namaste, dear one.....

Gorgeous. Reminds me a bit of Ralph Vaughn-Williams music.
