Grass seeds germinate when they have warmth, lots of sun and plenty of water available, usually in the spring or fall. Plant grass seed when the conditions are warm enough and water is available using instructions from a sustainable gardener in this free video on growing grass.

  • it needs water and moisture? really? duh.

  • Grass grows from a seed it just needs a seed to grow! Brilliant. Grass seed does not need sun to germinate. Please explain how the fescues then germinate in shade. Grass seed is ust a seed. How high a mountain did you climb to get Swammy to divulge that information. So the time to start grass is not when the nights start to get warm but WELL AFTER that

  • really

    how to grow grass

i dont know anything about "grass" and i bet i could plant it

  • I just seeded a new lawn around the house. The straw is down and I am watering. Its been 2 days. I want to seed more grass now since I want a higher percentage of feque grass in my lawn......ANYONE...do you think it would be a good idea to overseed with the straw already down or would it be a waste of money. The straw is not very thick at all.

  • ok its grass, its not that complicated. for those of you where it is complicated, i can tell why. go ahead and enjinear yourself some boiled water and i hope your lawn stays brown.

  • actuly grass grows best in early spring when the temprituers are around 60-80 degreas and early fall. Some grasses are hybrid grasses that means are jeneticly enjineared to grow with less watter and some less sun and other stuff thay enjinear the plant to do. The bad thing is a hybrid plant is not furtal thay cant reproduce just like any hybrid animals but some hybrid grass expands throue the root system but thayer seeds are no good. To germinate the seed needs watter and heat.
