This is BY FAR my absolute favorite rendition of Erik Satie's first Gnossienne. It isn't too fast and the appogiaturas are somewhat ignored. It sounds a lot more somber and mysterious this way, and I think it is a much stronger interpretation of it.

This rendition is found on the soundtrack for Guy Ritchie's film "Revolver", starring Jason Statham.

You can get this track and others by Satie by buying Alessandra's "Esotérik Satie" here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/celletti3

The pianist is the incredible Alessandra Celletti. I have a bunch of Satie and Scott Joplin music here, and obviously I have my personal favorite renditions. I keep finding out that hers are usually the ones I pick. She has released a couple albums with original music, and they're pretty good too. If you liked this, please take a look at more of her work:

  • Esoterik Satie has the best renditions of every single Satie piece, love Alessandra Celetti.

  • Simply beautiful. Fell in love with it right when I heard it in the movie Revolver by Guy Ritchie.

  • @Arastusamad

same as me, this movie was genious. and this music at the end left my jaw open for a while

  • @Glasyabolas666 Yup. I think her playing some notes inidvidually that were originally meant to be played at the same time, playing some pieces faster etc. really improved the music.

  • @tauwilltriumph

    I think the same.
