I saw this movie as a kid and it scared the shit out of me. I had to sleep with a light on for 2 years. I always checked above the bed and under it before I got in.

I remember seeing the beginning of this movie only ONCE on tv as a kid. The binoculars scene was all I needed to see. The sight of the woman screaming and covering her eyes with blood running down from between her fingers traumatized me instantly. I never forgot it. EVER.

I too saw this movie when I was a kid, but saw it at the walk-in theater. At the time I had a shelf over the head of my bed, and could not sleep under it after seeing the movie. I had to sleep at the foot of the bed. I never forgot the scene with the binoculors or the one with the bed scene. I still remember both scenes today and I am in my early-mid 60's. I still do not want a shelf above my bed!

I saw this movie at the drive in when I was 8 years old and have never forgotten the scene with the lady and the binoculars, I'm 60 years old now.
Made a hell of a impression on me as a kid that I can remember it from that long ago!

Scary? Yes but a good one to see again, someday, when it's finally shown again somewhere. But I have one scarier than this one: Strait Jacket with Joan Crawford.
Everyone gets chopped up with an ax.

Same goes for me dub. Somehow I ended up seeing it TWICE -- the second time was a mistake -- and the nighmares were intensified. Kids should NOT have been allowed to see this movie!! Especially because of that scene. An evil movie.
