This a replication of Slayer007's solid state Pulse Generator. It runs a modified CFL and charges at the same time. The replication is shown bread boarded with all parts displayed and explained.

  • Thanks Lidmotor great video.

If you really want to get some voltage out of it unhook the cfl from the ignition coil totally.

Nothing in the ignition coil then you'll get a lot more power.

  • OK. I will try that. Thanks. Great circuit!!

  • Hey Lidmotor, perhaps the logical evolution for you would be to get some of your home lighting off the grid. Solar panels on the roof going to batteries in the basement (if you have a basement). Then snake 12 VDC wires into the kitchen, bedroom, living room, and use your eventual final version of a 'radiant oscillator' to light CFLs.

You probably won't be too concerned about the ROI, just the satisfaction of knowing that you did it for yourself.

  • I have all the components to start my solar panel on the roof setup. Like you mentioned though, I have to be careful that it doesn't bother my neighbors in any way. The modified CFLs don't seem to emit enough EMI to bother things around my house.

  • You really would have to be sure that your circuit doesn't emit too much EMI (electromagnetic interference) to disturb your neighbour's (or your own) radio and TV reception).

Every battery feed would have to be fused for safety of course.

If you want to get picky, the energy ROI might be quite long, considering how much energy it too to manufacture and ship the components. But, if you really are a rabid greenie, you may as well pack it in and die to reduce your carbon footprint to zero. lol
