  • Sandy Nelson, the best drummer ever heard, I should know I am 80 yrs old and have listened to them all from about 1940

  • My dad pinched this record of his brother, my dear uncle back in the 70s, he would put it on after a few pints of beer, then my younger brother and I would procede to knock seven bells of shit out on an empty quality sweet tin each with a big pair of knitting needles. Have it. Still rocks. Class

  • mick tucker (drummer from the sweet) likes and looks up to sandy nelson, just shows he has good taste :) most drummers back in those early days of druming were as good as each other, buddy rich was good but not the best all were as good in the rightful place.

  • @TheKona12345 You are spot on with your remarks.

Not since the days of Gene Krupa has the drummer been the star on record. Who cares if there was a thousand better drummers, it was this guy who racked up the hits. When this record was played I bet most people either picked up a stick or whatever, and drummed along with it, Or they pictured themselves knocking the crap out of a set of drums. It's that kind of record

  • WHO COULDN'T LIKE THIS.

  • I read somewhere that this is where Mick Tucker from Sweet copped "Ballroom Blitz" from.

  • Mel Taylor of the Ventures did the best version

  • TheKona12345, I take your point , thanks

  • Had one of his albums in the late '60s and was struck by his hard driving style. Read on Wikipedia that he lost limbs from an accident. Sorry to read that. Enjoyed listening to him. Wish I still had that album, though.

  • @TheNigelc8

You're missing the point here. I would be the first to admit Buddy Rich is by far a better drummer hands down - no question. Sandy Nelson did for the up n'commer rock drummer what Rich and Morello did for the jazz drummer. He did what no other drummer has done and that's make a career from releasing up-front drum recordings and drum solos. Many drummers today....and I'm talking some well respected drummers, attribute their interest in drumming to Mr. Nelson. He deserves respect

  • Hey, i saw a vid of let there be drums with a cartoon girl playing the guitar part, but i cant find it back, any help please?

  • IF YOU THINK THIS IS GOOD YOU SHOULD HEAR ALEXIS BY SANDY NELSON.
