I am currently reading Congressman John Lewis's autobiography "Walking With The Wind: A Memoir of the Movement" and the violence he describes towards these peaceful civil rights activists and protesters will make your stomach turn. In one excerpt, he wrote of a huge, screeching white mob of men, women, and even CHILDREN who en-masse, attacked Freedom Riders and even journalists. One man was beaten with his own camera, and another they paralyzed for life. The South as it was needed to GO.
