God of the Gaps - The Story of God - BBC

The third episode considers how the idea of God has been challenged by modern ideas, especially scientific theories and discoveries.

Professor Robert Winston presents a definitive three-part documentary series on the history of mankind's quest to understand the nature of God. The Story of God is an epic journey across continents, cultures and eras exploring religious beliefs from their earliest incarnations, through the development of today's major world faiths and the status of religious faith in a scientific age.

The series examines the roots of religious beliefs in prehistoric societies and the different ways in which humanity's sense of the divine developed. It looks at the divergence between religions that worship a range of deities and those that represent strict monotheism.

  • You gotta laugh when he goes to the Creationist museaum in KY ... whatever your views on religion may be, it's clear that these American fundamentalists are just stir-crazy. They have no brains whatsoever. Kudos to Prof. Winston for not openly smirking at their stupidity.

  • oh I'll go to the creationist museum... to get a good laugh at them!

  • @WakeupFreinds Kent Hovind? The guy who is currently doing hard time for tax fraud?

"until I couldn't hide my ignorance any more" You've done very well at exposing your ignorance there.

  • the probability basis is totally not based on scientific methods and solid evidence

  • @WakeupFreinds you are actually referring to kent hovind. the guy who said water stops x rays or gamma rays. says big bang started from a ball of dust spinning and spinning, who says dna of a mother and father unravels and combines with each other to create a baby dna.

There is a line we draw. If a guy starts by saying evolution means something came from nothing 14 billion years ago, yeah professors pretty much give up.

  • accord to me this is wronf interpretation... noahs ark chapter happened well before that thousands of years back..not here

  • 44:30 How the hell do these people reconcile the fact that the science that gives them the technology to build anamatronic dinosaurs and video screens and ride in airplanes is the same as the science that says evolution is true and the universe is 13.5 billion years old? This is hypocrisy at it's worst!

  • @UTubeQPoster Maybe u should watch some debates with Creation v Evolution, and u will be very surprised like I was at how badly Evolution is beaten by Creationist. Check out Kent Hovind and watch some of his debates on YouTube, with professors, I was shocked at how bad the theory of evolution is when its debated fairly, that's the question I guess can u watch a debate with open eyes? its very hard I at 1st, I hated the Creationists, until I couldn't hide my ignorance any more, peace. =D

  • @UTubeQPoster Whaddya mean kudos? I appreciate your applause of politeness but some shit just needs outright ridicule so as to not legitimize it by our silence. I know what you mean though... Lulz

  • Understanding carbon dating and the geological record, priceless.
