Illegal Immigrants entering the UK from Calais, France

Britain's Border Control Force maintains a presence in Calais France, which is the main route by which illegal immigrants enter the UK. Thousands of lorries enter the UK every day from France and many are harbouring illegal immigrants.

This video shows how these illegal immigrants are caught, and the lengths they go to avoid detection while hiding in lorries. Immigration officers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their use of technology to detect illegal immigrants in lorries, but they simply do not have the human resources to check every single lorry entering the UK each day. In 2007 alone, over 12,000 of them were stopped by UK Immigrant officers

As a consequence many illegal immigrants are still able to enter the UK this way every year, resulting in a huge industry now operated by organised criminal gangs who smuggle people into the UK, provide false documentation and low-paid employment. Human-trafficking is also linked to forced prostitution, drug abuse and violent crime in our towns and cities.

to save billion of money. they should build container with a sealing system to block all breathing oxygen. exigent.. if the inside is oxygen free and an alarm system is designed and would trigger soonest a person try to stay inside the container, things can change. no oxygen inside, than the illegals will not even try getting in and hide, this is the best way to safe money and at the same time, use the money by building transition centers to screen legal and illegal immigrants.

That really would be cheap to do compared to the clean up operation of removing 1.5 million illegals from UK and patrolling borders every day turning away 7,000 - 10,000 illegals, most of whom are not even deported from France and continue to re-try again. It's just throwing billions away as you said..we need solutions that stop it dead at the source.

Here's an idea... instead of wasting billions of British tax-payers money on the failing EU project...how about the Eurozone building a giant detention center in Calais where we can round all these illegals up and hold them until they can be deported to Afghanistan. Then they will have a short-trip to walk from capture to detention, preferably shackled and chained together, US-style. That should send a clear message to others not to bother coming here.

@karaskaqi I wouldn't be so sure. Although you can use such measures, you would'nt be able to do that all the time and there will be CO2 in the lorry detectable. Besides Border Agency have a variety of other ways to catch these illegals including hand-held body heat seeking detectors for example.. CO2 detection isn't the only way but its proved a simple and fairly reliable method.

@karaskaqi Any police can be corrupted, British police are no exception. However Britain has many safeguards and institutions to make that very unlikely.

@chaudrygujrati I hear what you're saying and I understand why you're annoyed, and why people in those countries blame the US and UK. The thing is, most of the people in UK and US are AGAINST the wars. The governments have gone against public opinion and many think the motivation is more about oil.

@timmy19600 The Muslims screwed India over. Now they are insidiously taking over through higher birthrates (approximately 7 per woman). They breed like rats here. The average Hindu birth rate is 2 per woman. :( The future looks bleak as ever.

Bloody illegal immigrants! Their treated too nicely! Deport them straight away and make their country/themselves pay fines! Not the poor lorry driver/company! He has a job and is doing something good for society!
