The most memorable book I've read that made me wish I hadn't bought it.

  • You know I thouroughly respect one having their own opinions and feeling strongly enough to publicly state them, but... Opinions on the book aside... Girl, if you're going to make the effort to bash something, make the effort to have actual standing facts about whatever your preaching against. And all the pauses in your speech don't help you convince anyone. The way you present your thoughts is horrible. In short, I'm not defending the book, I'm urging you to rethink how you speak. Please. Damn.

  • When I made this video I still wasn't used to talking at a camera.

  • Also wanted to add - Someone with a user name with "Writerz" in it has no room to be critical.

  • It's called boredom. It happens to everyone and this is one of the ways I get rid of it. And I haven't read anymore of her books. Guilty Pleasures was enough to put me off.

WritersBlog was taken when I was picking the name. I don't particularly like the z in it but it was all I could come up with at the time, as I've explained in my profile.

  • If you were so bored by the book, why did you read it all the way through. When I pick up a book to read and find it disgusting or poorly written, I don't continue reading it. The fact that you read the book means there's something in it that enchanted you. You cannot deny this despite your inane commentary. BTW: LKH rules!

  • It cost me £7.99 and I couldn't return it. That's why I read the whole thing. It had nothing to do with her writing ability.

  • If you don't want to read erotic horror, then don't read it. It's not Laurells fault you carry on reading fiction that isn't to your taste.

As for this video, its not constructive citicism, it's a girl complaining about wasting £8 on something she didn't like. Not remembering any details about the book to pick apart and comment on is plain rude. If you're going to post a video like this, atleast make it worth my while by genuinely knowing what you're talking about.

  • Where can I read some of you work?

  • ok you said you can write better than Guilty Pleasures (I loved the book btw, had trouble putting it down) so lets see you write something. If its good I'll read it :)

  • @Llynnyia Guilty Pleasures didn't have any sex in it. LKH never started putting in the sex scenes until about the 3rd or 4th book. So the one she read was no-where near as bad as the later ones.

  • If you wanna read some really good books, go check out Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark-Hunter series. THAT is a great book series (Its got around 30 books to it now). It's not really a Vampire series, but it's a bit close. Probably the best series I've ever read besides Harry Potter.

  • Narcissus in Chains through Cerulean Sins took me FOREVER to read because, really, all youre reading is Sex Scene after Sex scene, almost every one of which is with a different guy. However, when you skip past all the got danged sex, Her plots and storylines are actually really good, well researched, and Well thought out. I own the entir Anita Blake series from Guilty Pleasures to Skin Trade. And, as soon as I get the money, I will have Flirt as well.

  • Yes, the first couple books weren't the best books in the world, but she was just starting out. And I will say this, Be thankful she wasn't the Sex addict she is when she wrote the first few books. In her newer books, you might as well be READING porn. Anita gets this thing called the Ardeur from Jean-Claude and, I wont go into detail, but it pretty much makes it so that she has to have sex several times a day in order to live.

  • Okay, I'm going to try not to be rude about this. I only started reading the Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series about 2 and a half years ago when a friend of mine recommended it to me. In fact, before I ever even read one book, I knew exactly what happened all the way up though 'Micah'. And, personally, I love the books. I think they're a lot better than a lot of the other vampire novels out there. And LKH actually does a really good job at expanding on her characters and the storyline.

  • She looks as if she's talking about being raped... Why so emotional about a book?

  • please dont comment as you are how old should you be reading erotic horror? i will admit yes too much sex at some point but its boring ? never and the writers cadence is wonderful because its the charachters thoughts ( and yes i can see how it is like some fan fictions) maybe its that i didnt start with that book i started with obsidian butterfly anything more common than that ? anita was a original at her time in 1993 no wemon in lit ever did what she did before no wemon detectives were hard.

  • You compared anita to harry potter! A childs book to an adult book with lots of sex in it. Through you whole speach you only criticizing the book with out any reason other than keep saying Guilty Pleasures Like you were grossed, YOUR video was point less. but i realy hope the next book you pick up is more to your liking.
