The dreaded Emerson Seagull fan, nightmare of the author of a certain fan identification book! This is an 8" Seagull, non-oscillating, one speed, no-switch plug-in dimestore fan, which retailed (back then, 1934) for $3.00. This fan is in "as-is" condition from the seller. It runs like a champ, though the blades need to be balanced and re-pitched, as the fan hardly generates any air movement. I will revideo when restored!
cardboard washers...? I can't imagine little balls of cardboard around the rotor shaft, cardboard washers yes...they were of common use.
