  • Amazing. For me, and I love all types of music and a wide variety of metal 'genres' - the greatest album ever released. Nobody has ever thrown the rule book out th window quite like they did with Obscura - it still blows my mind to this day. Many bands try to be 'dark' or 'evil' - much to comedic effect. Obscura manages to be intelligently unhinged and genuinely psychotic whilst always being in full control of absolute chaos. There is no other album like it, nor will there ever be in the future.

  • sick! the most underrated death metal band full stop. the fact that luc has revived the band is best news i've heard in a while

  • @BilloRaptor I'd say Cryptopsy continued this style with their album "Once Was Not". That album is bizarre. I agree that this album is fantastic, but I think the most genuinely psychotic albums are this, "Dahmer" by Macabre, "Alien" by Strapping Young Lad, and "Once Was Not" by Cryptopsy.

Honorable mention to "Deconstruction" by the Devin Townsend Project.

  • One of the most weird Metal riffs I've ever heard. Excellent.

  • 1:02 This sounds like shit. Anybody else thinking of south park here? lol

  • @BilloRaptor i could write paragraphs more, but fuck that damn bro you said a mouthful

  • Big Steeeve!!!

  • FUCKEN AMAZING ALBUM! underrated band. good see they are back and their new shit sounds good too. can't go wrong with longstreth behind the kit either.

  • @pud agreed. I got obscura pretty much as a joke due to the Gorguts name and soon found out that the real joke was on myself. one of the most amazing heavy records ever. big steeve's tha man.

  • One of the most underrated bands of all time. It's not even death metal -- it's beautiful, chaotic musical poetry. I think their name & early 90's death metal roots hold them back, commercially.

  • Best line up

Why Steve (bassist) left the band?
