An interesting Linux distribution derived from Ubuntu - it uses the Enlightenment Window manager.

OpenGEU: When a gnome meets enlightenment.

  • Wow thank you for this video review! You've been gentle and cool pal! Hope I'll be able to release a new OpenGEU version soon! Please take a pait of minutes to review the new version soon when it will be out ;)

We'll have a little alpha-beta cicle before we release it anyway...

  • Will definitely review the new release - would that be based around Hardy or Gutsy? OpenGEU is definitely one of my favourite flavours of Linux at the moment - a great OS!

  • Same here - running inside VirtualBox now :)

  • I appreciate the video but you do know that its not GUH-NOME. its just pronounced like nome.

  • 1. Install OpenGEU

    2. sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

    3. You now have Ubuntu 8.10

  • @mrmaxkento Only because he's running it from a disc. Once you install it to your HDD, it's as quick as Ubuntu

  • the boot takes long time.....

  • DO they have a 64 bit version?

  • hi! just a question, how can i add icons at the desktop?ia hace winxp and opengeu 8.04, and i need to watch the ntfs disks, on thunar doesn't apear the ntfs disks, can you guide me? if not, thanks for take part of your time to read this, bye.

  • Darkmaster, it's a beautiful distro that I'm thoroughly enjoying using. Canonical could benefit from using a lot of your ideas in Intrepid.

  • Thanks for the compliments :)

It will be based on Hardy, I'll always follow the release cicle of the official Ubuntu. OpenGEU will keep behaving as if it was a normal Ubuntu flavour ;)

It won't be released the same day as Hardy though.. there's still too much to do but soon I'll release an alpha and a roadmap.

  • Of course, if you have any useful suggestions for the OpenGEU development please report it in the forums or to my mail! (a personal message in youtube will be ok too to contact me)

as for the branding on the help page don't you worry, we already created an alternative ;)
