I'm a brass player but I recently started to get into playing a drumset. I was trying this traditional grip and is it normal for your hand to hurt on the side? I'm sure it's normal just for building muscle but I mean, what can I expect?

im tryna learn trad so i can do dci in a few years. my high school uses matched for snares
