There are Rainbow Lorikeets on our roof!

Watch in HD! My parents put out some fresh fruit, nectar and some water on our roof for the local Lorikeet infestation to feed on. We're careful not to overfeed them, and we place the food outside on random days (and at random times) so they don't rely on us as their main source.

YES, that is bread you also see there. We know it's bad for Lorikeets. It's there for the Mourning Pigeons and Noisey Minors to eat, but the Lorikeets kinda took over, we let it go just this once.

Hi, thanks for your feedback! They really don't belong in cages :-( If your friend absolutely must buy one, ask him/her to try to obtain one from a rescue centre (such as the RSPCA or Animal welfare league) as opposed to a pet store, the world will thank you for it

Only a month or two until they are back here in Glebe Sydney to strip every seeding plant in the suburb. Rocks when the little guys are around, the noise livens up the place for a few months.

Some raptors also follow the flocks so you get to see them as an added bonus and watch the wagtails go on the attack as they don't tolerate predators at all in breeding season.

@PodeCoet Yeah! I try to encourage that too. I hate pet stores, it's sad to see animals all kept up in tight cages.

I encourage breeders or rescue centres.

I'll make sure thats what she does ^^
