  • The watch tech clearly works for one of the premium watch factories... just the fact that the balance wheels are screwed tells that tale.

But, who noticed that she is wearing the crappiest $2 watch made! :)

  • FYI, the piece on her wrist is a vintage Glashütte mechanical which overhauled it herself.

  • @douro20 Those are called "timing washers". Mechanical watches are becoming a vanishing art.

  • Screwed balance wheels are capable of amazing mechanical time accuracy once they are position and temperature adjusted. Few watchmakers bother with this all-important step.

Seiko fires a laser into the rim of their screwless balance wheels to make dimples that balances the movement. Seikos are known to last a long time, but keep crappy time compared to my old American and Swiss adjusted wristwatch movements.

  • This looks to be from a manufactures point of view, and many manufacories(like glashütte, which this looks to be from) poise the balance wheels via computer, and cutting groves underneath the balance rim, just like on smooth balances!! Not many does the work manually with timing washers, like the repairer needs to!

  • Ich find den "watchmaker" süß ;-)

  • The watchmaker speaks perfect English...

  • Not only are there screws, but also spacers which are inserted on the screws to add weight as necessary when poising the wheel.
