  • Ok...Since I got a comment from 'BlacKSacrificE' to please explain this odd device, I'll do so. Basically, this is an amplifier to make a transmitted radio signal bigger to broadcast farther out. Those of us in amateur radio service use such amplifiers just for that purpose; some of us build them, others buy them commercially, but their purpose is the same. It's part of the hobby, like a car inthuiest making a car more powerful to go faster...that's it in a nutshell.

  • If I was stranded on a desert island and had my choice to have anyone with me, you would be it! Lots of guys would say some beautiful woman or a good cook. Not me. I want off that island, and you could build a satelite from a washing machine! Brilliant.

  • @smacman68

Thanks mucho, but I think the Professor on Gilligan's Island would be a better choice. Anybody that can make a radio out of a coconut shell and a vine could do anything! ...and the Professor always came thru. ;-D

  • you call it a bread board prototype??

  • @Yvessam

Yes, indeed it is. It's always a good idea to test the unknown on 'open archetecture'; it helps to make quick changes when necessary.

  • the insanity! nice work

  • @AntiProtonBoy

Insanity indeed! ...altho it is controlled somewhat. ;-D

  • Bob please ensure you use a foil covered umbrella over the experiment to meet FCC shelding requirements buddy.. I get a kick out of this video every time..

(The noonga from down under) About time I subscribe and exchange risky fun projects as well.

  • @bob4analog LOL Haha! That is true. I originally found your videos by chance looking for some pointers on building a custom (read: homemade) amp for my electric guitar. I am using four EL84 tubes (100w) and 12 ax7 preamp tubes. I am trying to find the right rectifier to use, and have been hunting for advice. Have any?

  • The flux capacitor is missing.

  • GREAT!!!

  • @bob4analog yeah yeah I know lol it,s just that normaly, a "breadboard" dosn't take much place, but you... you take all your table XD and more. that's crasy!! keep it up man!

  • Surfed in via hackaday and stopped watching this after a minute or so as I have no idea what I'm looking at. Might I suggest covering what a linear amplifier actually is, and what differentiates it from other amp types, before going into how it works? Especially seeing as how the article that is driving the traffic does not mention anything more than "here is one"
