@FighterOfWhatsRight To have the Cross doesn't mean you are worshiping a piece of wood or what have you. You worship who was on that Cross. It's not an empty cross to Christians, The Cross is another symbol that recalls to mind the painful suffering of the Savior out of His love for you and me. now, it would be idolatry if i happen to make a shrine on a Cross i found randomly on the streets, bow down to it and call it Lady Gaga.

@FighterOfWhatsRight I Corinthians 1:18 For the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but for us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Galatians 6:14 May I never boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and i to the world.
The Cross to Christians symbolizes the epitome of God's love.
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the Cross... "by his wounds you have been healed"( 1 Peter 2:24).

With what I was saying below, here are a couple of scriptures to go along with it:
Any image(of gold, of silver, of stone, etc) man creates(ie the cross) is an abomination unto the lord and will be destroyed in the last days, according to these scriptures. This is why Mormons believe the cross to be shameful, because Christ Himself would.

It's not so much that it was horrific that Mormons say the cross is shameful, but also that in a way it is idolatry or a ingraven image, which the Lord commanded not to have any ingraven images. All churches with the cross, are committing idolatry. To even have a statue of Christ is idolatry, because you're worshipping the statue itself instead of Christ. To have an image of the cross, is worshiping the cross, and not Christ.

Mormons don't take offense to the cross, we just feel that we don't need to see what he was tortured on because we know in our hearts and soul what he did for the salvation of mankind and the Love of our Heavenly Father, to send his only Begotten Son to die for us.

Preach it my brother in Christ... 1 Corinthians 1:22-24
New King James Version
22 For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

I have kin who are Mormons and have spoken at length on two occasions with Elders of the LDS. They do take offense at the Cross the same as Jehovahs Witnesses do, saying it is a horrid reminder where we see it as a reminder of the price our glorius Saviour paid for our sins. Christ paid for our sins and made complete ATONEMENT for them on the Cross through shedding His blood to His death, on the Cross not at Gethsemane.

Great video. The preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness 1 Corinthians 1:18. Jesus was not affraid of or disgusted in any way with the cross, when He said that if we are going to follow Him we must take up our cross daily and follow Him.
I'm not sure where this man came up with the idea that Mormons think the cross is shameful. As a member of the Mormon faith, I have been taught the eternal significance of the cross and what purpose it played regarding the selfless act of the atonement of Jesus Christ. I do not condemn others for their choice to wear the cross as a symbol of their devotion and hope others will have the same respect and understanding for my choice to focus on the resurrection as my symbol of hope.

@magicmaster209 Either you're sincere and disconnected from Utah LDS culture, or you're just being politically correct. I'll assume the best. The fact is that many LDS have a low, cynical view of the cross, and make Gethsemane the focal point of the atonement and perpetuate a traditional LDS apologetic concerning why Mormons rarely use the symbol of the cross. See for the forthcoming "Banishing the Cross: The Emergence of a Mormon Taboo", by Michael Reed (John Whitmer Books)
