when Andy really played tennis :(...and he knew how to hit ball hard...but now he doesnt know(moonballs)....it is sad to see how a player you love have changed to worse so much in these last years
@TakeshiMomoshiro Yeah, every once in a while a random person will give the top guys trouble and maybe even win a tournament. But to me that doesn't define competition, because if it was really competitive then federer, nadal, and djokovic wouldn't have rediculous wins and trophies. I agree though the way things ended up was kind of unfortunate, I think Roddick deserved more wins. Tennis used to be more comptitive, maybe the technology that goes into tennis now messed things up?
@kelman221, I disagree. When I watch performances like this one from Andy, or ones that include any one of Safin, Hewitt, Roddick, or Nalbandian at their best (especially vs eachother), I'm reminded that the competition back then wasn't of an inferior class, they were just inconsistent. Roddick, who was one of the more frequent contenders of the bunch, matched up terribly with Roger and unfortunately shared favorite surfaces (grass, fast hards) with him. It skews things, in my opinion.
@SiaWinsi I agree that the competition during Federer's prime wasn't that great. Now a withering Nadal who can dominate Federer is getting beaten out by Djokovic and some other upcoming players, kind of sad. I wanted Nadal or Federer to win some more. Djokovic is just lucky that Nadal and Federer aren't at their best anymore.
He moved way better back then, he went for shots, and his forehand was a weapon.
Now, he moves poorly, he spins most shots back, and his forehand is not a weapon. In sum, his philosophy is "Serve well, and hope for the best." On the one hand, he is a tragic hero due to his consistent loses to Federer; on the other hand, he has one 30 tournaments, has tons of money, and his happy in his personal life. I don't feel sorry for him, but I do feel sorry for my country's current state of tennis.

Prime Roddick would seriously overpower a lot of top ten players today. And he was moving really well back then as well.
