Kyun dilri udaas ghaneri-ey
Lun lun wich showq changeri-ey
Aj neyna ney laa'iya kyun jhari-an
Why is the yearning for the loved One (Holy Prophet ) is especially strong daily?
Why is my heart sadder today than ever before?
Why does longing penetrate every tissue of mine?
And why are the eyes shedding tears like a shower of rain?

Mukh chand badr sha'shani-ey
Mathe chamke laat noorani-ey
Kali zulf tay akh mastaani-ey
Makhmoor akheen hen madh bhari-an
His face shines like the full moon
A brilliant light radiates from his brow
His hair is black, and his eyes are bewitched and intoxicated

Is soorat nu mey jaan akhaa
Jaan aakha keh jaan-e-jahan akhaa
Sach aakha tey Rab di mey shaan akhaa
Jis shaane tun shaana sab bani-an
I am not sure whether I should call his
face the essence of life, or life of the entire universe.
The truth is that it is (like) the Glory of God, from which
all other (worldly) glories originated.

Subhan'Allah ma ajmalaka
Ma ahsanaka ma akmalaka
Kithay Mehr Ali kithay Teri sana
Gus'takh akheen, kithay ja ariyaan
Glory to Allah, who created (O Holy Prophet ) in the most beautiful,
the best and the most perfect mould.
Where is (the humble) Mehr Ali to chant your praise
How (presumptions and) impudent his eyes are to aspire to the heights of you Love!
