  • The other thing I didn't like was a standard Amiga 500 just wasn't any good with polygons. Didn't have the 'scaling' chip or whatever that gave PC's such a edge with 3d games.

  • Actually A500 was thought at 1985/87, when 3d games didnt exist(at least, as standard). But programmers made a excellent work with games like Frontier, Epic :-), Robocop, etc.

And about chip, i know Commodored hit the street with a console, cd32, with included a scaling chip(for playing games like doom)

  • the battleships and fighters are looking like from battlestar galactica. sadly i never playd this game on amiga.

  • at it's time it was a shock for me. Even i tried recording the music on tape!! and yes, some fighter looks from galactica.Cyclops were the pilos, weren't it?

  • Didn't this have sampled music in the intro or was that only on the Atari ST version?

  • i don't know. I'm still waiting for someone who kindly upload a video of Atari version :)

  • The blitter could be used to draw flat shaded 3D polygons, thus vastly improving frame rates and surpassing anything the CPU could do. So in a fashion, the Amiga could have 3D acceleration. But it was limited.

  • True, the amiga didnt have 3d acceleration hardware. That came in 1996 with the 3dfx Voodoo line - 9 years after the A500 came into existence.

  • ohh ja das geilste Game damals

  • Pc game on an Amiga...Calculate 3d object was not its strengh, bitmap was. The greatest bitmap machime of its time and maybe nowadays
