Oerg's DOSGameShow Episode 6 - Megaman X (Capcom 1995)

This game was indirectly requested by Technokami, thanks a lot! :)

Oh god. I didn't even KNOW there were MegaMan games on PC, let alone on DOS. I first wanted to do Mega man 3, (Technokami suggested "one of the two megaman games on dos", but there were 3 :P) but that hung on HI TECH EXPRESSIONS PRESENTS. So I found out there was Megaman X too, and boy, it's addicting. It's very cool, I made it through the first stage and, yeah. DON'T PLAY WITH MUSIC ON ADLIB OR SOUND BLASTER, IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE. With general midi though, it sounds pretty good. The graphics are pretty nice too, the controls are godly, and I give this game a 9.5/10

  • I had this game... and something that I found really interesting, when I had a lock-up in Sigma's fortress (stage 1), I called the company (this was back when they had real people on the phones).

I'd given them as much information as I could, and they interjected when I'd said "After I collected the Hadoken...", and they swore up and down that it didn't exist in the PC port. I had to tell them multiple times that it indeed existed, as I was LOOKING at it on my screen.

    Good times...

  • I didn't mind the music, or the lack of some visual effects, but I missed the mech suits. I guess the PC version just couldn't handle them.

  • Ahh! I know that the music in the PC version is great. I don't understand how people can like the SNES's better!

  • Gameplay is intact, but the music is terribad. couldn't they have done CD quality stuff?

The graphics had potential to be better, VGA allows for higher resolutions then the SNES's video...

  • I know there are mega man 1 and mega man 3 for DOS and I have them (they are nothing than shit :P)

  • wow, did the game take a 2x4 in the sonics when geting ported to the PC.

  • Oh WOW. That's an really amazing port.
