On the weekend of May 15-18, 2009, some friends and I travelled down to the Gorge in Washington state near Quincy, WA to see the Doobie Brothers, the Allman Brothers Band and the Grateful Dead on May 15. Since the drive down would take us through the mountains and a diverse range of climates, I decided to film the drive there and back in time lapse. Special thanks goes to Todd, Bonnie and Dave for helping with the filming and being patient with the filming process.

This film shows the next leg of our journey to the states. It begins at Radium Hot Springs, BC and continues through Cranbrook, BC, crossing the border into the states, and ends at a quick stop in Bonners Ferry, ID. I stopped filming just short of the border because I wasn't sure how the american border patrol would react to the camera. I resumed filming once we were inside the U.S. It's better to make such crossings as easy as possible, and this crossing only took a few minutes.

This film was made on May 15, 2009 at 20x real time.

  • @MixedBreedE Thanks! And if you're interested, I have some other road trip type videos of parts of Western Canada. :)

  • @canadianentropy Thanks, im defntly going to check all these out, love seeing places ill never get to visit, i plan to make a road trip out west soon tho, btw what kinda cam you use, and software, ive always wanted to do this on 1 of my road trips

and check out my videos if you got time, but def going to watch all your road trip pics, they are entertaining

  • @MixedBreedE I appreciate you watching. :)

I'll have a look at your videos.

I use a Pentax 750Z; it has a built in time lapse function. Many camcorders have this function, but few cameras do. I edit with AVS video editor.

  • Probably a good thing you stopped the filming for the border. I accidentally had a camera filming at a different border crossing and it delayed me by nearly an hour while they searched everything and gave me a lecture about filming at the border area.

  • @lost31337 Yeah, it just isn't worth the hastle no matter how innocent it may be.
